Since the fall of 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stepped up regulation of vapes, especially for disposable vape products on the market.

Currently, five U.S. states - Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, California, and Rhode Island - as well as Washington, D.C.   Laws banning the sale of flavored e-cigarettes have been implemented.

These laws are intended to reduce the popularity of flavored vapes, which appeal to young people, and thus reduce youth smoking rates.

Additionally, Utah will also implement a flavored vape ban beginning January 1, 2025, further expanding this trend.

In addition to the flavored vape ban, six U.S. states have passed PMTA (Pre-Market Tobacco Application) registration bills, which prohibit the sale of vape products that are not authorized by the FDA.

Kentucky is the latest state to pass this bill, which will go into effect on January 1, 2025. 

These legal measures are designed to protect public health by ensuring that all vape products on the market undergo rigorous safety and health reviews.
