It's necessary for optimal performance and vape longevity. Plus, if you love switching flavors, cleaning regularly will prevent your taste from getting tainted by the leftover e-liquid from other flavors.

Learning how to clean a vape pen is essential if you want your device to last as long as possible and deliver top-quality flavor and vapor production every time you use it. Herbal concentrates are incredibly thick and sticky, and they tend to get everywhere. Oil will condense inside the airway and clog your cartridge. Oil can also leak out of a vape cartridge and contaminate your vape pen’s threading.

In addition, you want to rinse out your vape tank before refilling with your new e-liquid flavor to avoid any flavor contamination.

Step 1: Removing the Vape Tank

Start by carefully detaching the vape tank from your mod. Ensure that your device is turned off before you proceed to avoid any accidental activation.

Step 2: Emptying the Tank

Pour out any e-liquid left in the tank. Be sure to do this over a sink or a waste receptacle to avoid spills and stains.

Step 3: Disassembling the Tank

Take apart your vape tank. Most tanks can be unscrewed at the base to remove the coil. Keep track of all small parts, such as seals and screws, to ensure easy reassembly later.

Step 4: Cleaning with Alcohol

Moisten a piece of paper towel with rubbing alcohol or vodka. These solvents are effective at breaking down e-liquid residues without damaging tank components.

Step 5: Wiping the Tank

Use the alcohol-soaked paper towel to clean the inside of the tank. Focus on any grooves and crevices where gunk is likely to accumulate. Be thorough to ensure all residue is removed.

Step 6: Rinsing with Water

After wiping, rinse the tank under warm water to wash away any alcohol and loosened residues. This step helps to ensure that no cleaning fluid remains in the tank.

Step 1: Preparation and Disassembly

First, ensure that the pen is powered off. Unscrew or separate all parts of the device, making sure that all residue and contents of the chamber are emptied. This step is critical for safely and effectively cleaning the device without any interference from electrical components or leftover materials.

Step 2: Cleaning the Atomizer

Next, disassemble the atomizer and use a soft-bristled brush to remove any debris. This step focuses on eliminating dry residues like e-liquid build-up or dust that might have accumulated during use, which can affect performance and taste.

Step 3: Wiping Residue

Then, use a cotton swab or paper towel to wipe away any remaining residue from the atomizer. Ensuring that the atomizer is thoroughly cleaned will not only improve the efficiency of your vape pen but also enhance the overall vaping experience by maintaining a clean vapor path.

Step 4: Reassembly and Testing

Once all components are completely dry, reassemble the vape pen. Make sure everything is securely attached and in place. This final step is crucial to ensure the device functions correctly and safely post-cleaning, restoring it to optimal working conditions for continued use.

Battery

Charge the battery before it's completely drained. If you wait until it's fully depleted before recharging, it can significantly degrade the battery's performance! Keep an extra battery on hand for emergencies.

Do not overcharge the battery. Follow the instructions and unplug the charger within two hours after it's fully charged. Although most batteries have a feature to stop charging when they are full, it's still safer to unplug the charger as a precaution. 

The charging cable must be the one that came with the purchase. Most disasters occur because of the use of incompatible charging cables.Where your tank or atomiser connects to the battery, keep this area clean, free of any residue liquid.

Atomizer

Atomizers once you develop a burnt flavour after regular use you replace the atomizer itself. These are usually made of plastic and have a screw-top mouthpiece. These aren’t of great long-lasting quality compared to tanks, but are definitely adequate in what they do. The best way to increase the life span of an atomizer is to always keep it topped up with liquid. Never allow the wicks inside (the little pieces of string) to become dry through lack of liquid.

Tanks

To prevent it shattering when dropped, it is recommended to wrap it with rubber bands.  The elasticity of the rubber bands can absorb some of the impact, thus protecting the glass from direct hits.

It’s good to keep the tank clean. I usually clean the tank out with warm water every time the coil is changed. Usually every 2 weeks. After cleaning, I dry it with tissue.

Coils

Always ensure the coil is sufficiently screwed into its place. This stops any sort of potential leakage or any connection problems between the tank & battery.

When replacing the coil, always allow plenty of time for the cotton within to fully saturate before you press that fire button. If you vape too suddenly on a new coil, you run the risk of burning the not-yet saturated cotton, which will then be present even when the cotton is saturated and give a pretty bad taste on a brand-new coil.

When vaping on a new coil, if you have a setup that allows for variable wattage, lower the wattage down for the first few hits, and slowly increase up from there to your usual wattage setting.

Always keep your tank filled above where the cotton is visible, this increases the lifetime of the coil as the cotton will always be saturated.

Pro Tips

Always try and keep your vape pen away from heat: avoid leaving it in a hot car, and avoid putting it in your pocket next to your body heat.

If you have the longer length type pen, avoid putting it anywhere where it could bend (especially the pocket). Once they are bent, this can play havoc with the seals of the tank and also the connecting wires within the battery.
