The hemp and CBD industry is garnering plenty of interest these days, now you may think that hemp seed and CBD oil are the same, but you'd be wrong. So what's the difference, you may ask? Well, let's try to explain the difference.

The major difference between CBD oil and hemp oil is that hemp oil contains little if any CBD content. Hemp seed oil, as its name suggests, is made from the seeds. CBD oil is made from the plant's leaves and stem. 

The best way to tell if a product is hemp oil or CBD oil is to read the label. 

Hemp oil will be labeled as "hemp oil" or "hemp seed oil." It possible that the more scientific name is used so check for. "cannabis seed oil" or "cannabis Sativa seed oil."

For CBD oil, check to see if the words "cannabidiol" or "CBD" are present on the packaging.

What is Hemp Oil?

Hemp or hempseed oil is extracted from the seeds of the cannabis Sativa plant. The hemp seeds are pressed to extract the oil, and the resulting oil is bottled, sometimes refined, and further processed before bottling.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is also extracted from the cannabis Sativa plant. However, rather than extracting from the seeds, CBD oil is extracted from the mature plants' flowers, leaves, and stems. CBD oil can be extracted in various ways, including carbon dioxide, ethanol, and even olive oil. The extraction method has a particular influence on the quality of CBD oil and CBD levels in the oil.

CBD oils come in three different varieties: Full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD-oil, and CBD isolates.

The ingredients in cannabis that produce the euphoric stoners high are THC. Hemp oil has no THC, and even the full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oils have to contain less than 0.3% THC, which is not enough to get you high.

  • Reputable CBD oils will be accompanied by an Analysis certificate (COA) detailing the product's exact ingredients. Hemp oil does not carry COA.
  • Under federal law, CBD oil can contain up to 0.3% THC. Hemp oil does not contain any THC. State and local laws may add additional regulations to this.
  • Some states have laws that apply to CBD distribution and production; Thc-free hemp oil has no such restriction.
  • Hemp oil is a nutritious oil. It contains no cannabinoids and does not benefit from the entourage effect.
  • Hemp oil can be bought on Amazon, but CBD cannot.
  • Hemp oil has been used in beauty products for several years, but CBD is relatively new in all industries.
  • Although they can be used topically or ingested, you are more likely to use hemp oil topically and ingest CBD oil.
