Colorful glass pipes are a popular choice among smoking accessory enthusiasts for their vibrant designs and the wide variety of shapes and styles available.
The stained glass bong is a classic design with a more minimalist design that has a flowing variation.
Made from high borosilicate glass, these pipes are not only visually appealing but also durable and safe for regular use.
How To Pack A Pipe?
1. Ensure your pipe is free of obstructions and leftover ash. Use a pipe cleaner through the stem, dump out any dottle, and gently blow through the stem over a bin or large ashtray (with the bowl upside down) to expel ash.
2. Prepare the tobacco. Remove a small amount from its container and lay it on a flat surface. Pick apart any clumps and check the moisture content. If too moist, let it sit for a few minutes to dry.
3. Lightly fill the pipe with tobacco by trickling strands into the bowl until it's full. Avoid pushing down with your thumb or pinching the tobacco to prevent creating more clumps.
4. Use a tamper or pipe nail to gently compress the tobacco. For straight-sided bowls, tamp until the tobacco half fills the bowl. For tapered bowls, aim for two-thirds full. The tobacco should have a springy and soft consistency.
5. Put the pipe to your lips and take a test draw. If there's resistance, dump out the tobacco and start again.
6. Lightly refill the bowl with tobacco.
7. Tamp the tobacco down again. For straight-sided bowls, the pipe should be three-quarters full. For tapered bowls, it should be five-eighths full. Use slightly more force than the first tamp.
8. Test draw again. If there's an issue, dump out the tobacco and repeat the process.
9. Trickle more tobacco into the pipe until it protrudes above the rim. Return leftover tobacco to the container.
10. Use the tamper to pack the tobacco down until it's even with the top of the bowl. Use more pressure than before but don't overdo it. The tobacco should still feel springy.
11. Test draw one more time. If there's too much resistance, start over.
By following these steps, you'll have a properly packed tobacco pipe ready to be lit and smoked.
How To Clean A Pipe?
Step 1. Throw away any ashes and dirt inside the smoking pipe. Removing ashes before cleaning prevents additional mess and makes the cleaning process more efficient.
Step 2. Rinse the smoking pipe with water. This removes stubborn ash and provides some lubrication for the next steps.
Step 3. Soak Q-tips with alcohol and scrub the body through the mouthpiece (if large enough). For pipes with a mouthpiece that can fit a Q-tip, this helps clean the inside. For those with a small mouthpiece, this step can be skipped.
Step 4. Pour alcohol and salt into the pipe (in a ratio of 2:1) inside a plastic bag and shake. This is the deep cleansing step. Shake for about 5 minutes or more if the pipe is very dirty. Wearing gloves is recommended if you don't want to touch the alcohol with bare hands.
Step 5. Rinse the pipe thoroughly. This removes any remaining particles and ensures better hygiene. Once rinsed, your pipe should regain its original shine.
