How To Use A Pipe?

Step 1: Prepare the Cannabis

Use a grinder to break up cannabis buds into a medium consistency, similar to coarse sand. This allows for optimal airflow and even burning. Avoid making it too fine or too coarse.

Step 2: Pack the Bowl

Gently place the ground cannabis into the pipe's bowl. Don't pack it too tightly as it can restrict airflow. Fill the bowl loosely to about three-quarters full. Use your finger or a tamping tool to lightly press the cannabis for a slightly firm yet airy pack.

Step 3: Cover the Carb

Many pipes have a carb, a small hole on the side. Cover this hole with your thumb or finger. The carb helps regulate airflow and clear smoke from the pipe.

Step 4: Light the Bowl

Hold the pipe to your mouth and create a seal with your lips. Use a lighter or hemp wick to apply flame to a corner of the packed bowl (cornering). This preserves the fresh taste of the cannabis. As you light, inhale slowly and steadily.

Step 5: Release the Carb Hole

Once enough smoke is in the chamber, stop lighting and remove your finger from the carb hole while continuing to inhale. The fresh air will push the remaining smoke into your lungs.

How To Clean A Pipe?

Step 1: Prepare Your Bong for Cleaning

Clean out the bowl and empty any water from the pipe. Rinse with warm or hot water to loosen debris, resin, and buildup.

Step 2: Add Salt and Alcohol

Fill the pipe with salt and add enough isopropyl rubbing alcohol to cover it completely. Use a funnel if needed. For best results, use 91% isopropyl alcohol, but 70% will also work. You can also place the glass piece in a Ziploc bag, zip it up, and shake. If the piece is very dirty, you may need to replace the alcohol. This method also works well for smaller pieces like glass spoon-style pipes.

Step 3: Shake Vigorously

Shake the pipe vigorously for at least 20 seconds, ensuring the salt and alcohol reach all nooks and crannies. Repeat as needed until the pipe is clean. As the alcohol turns black, dump it out and replace with fresh alcohol and salt. Repeat the shaking process.

Step 4: Spot Clean Exterior

Spot-clean any exterior areas that need special attention. The bottom or underside of the pipe may be covered in resin. If it's caked up, heat the resin spots with a lighter for 2-3 seconds and then use alcohol on a paper towel to rub it off.

Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly

Once the pipe looks clean, rinse it thoroughly with hot water to remove salt and alcohol residue. Use a paper clip or straw brush for hard-to-reach areas.

Step 6: Make It Shine With Some Dish Soap

Put a tiny dab of dish soap on and inside the pipe. Rub it all over the exterior. Rinse with warm water to remove lingering odors and make it sparkle.

Step 7: Clean the Sink Area

Use alcohol to clean the sink area of any resin or mess created during the cleaning process.
