This is one of my unique pieces to smoke from. It does create a "different" flavor. If you're a pipe smoker you'll love this. It leaves that taste in your mouth like a pipe does. I fill mine about 3/4 up in the bottom reservoir.. Throw an ash catcher on this and it smooths it up greatly.
